Dynamics 365 Implementation Recovery
Microsoft Dynamics 365 implementations rarely fail suddenly. They slow, then slip, then enter a cycle in which each status meeting reports progress that the go-live date does not reflect. By the time the difficulty is formally acknowledged, budget has been consumed and confidence has gone.
We are engaged in these situations regularly. The work begins with an honest assessment of where the Dynamics 365 project actually is — which is frequently not where the plan says.
An evidence-based assessment to establish the real project position, identify the blockers and define the practical route to a controlled Dynamics 365 go-live.
The assessment
What is genuinely built, configured and tested, verified directly in the Dynamics 365 environment rather than relying on information from a project status report.
Solution design and scope alignment — whether the current design still matches the business requirement and where scope has drifted without a clear decision.
Data migration readiness, including the quality and completeness of migrated data and whether the current position is realistic for go-live.
Integration status and test coverage across the Dynamics 365 solution and connected business systems.
Team capability and capacity on both sides, stated plainly so delivery responsibilities and remaining gaps are clear.
Remaining effort and delivery plan with a realistic estimate of the work required and a re-baselined plan for completing the Dynamics 365 implementation.
Recovery options
There is usually more than one route. Continue with the current partner under a re-baselined plan and stronger governance. Take over delivery and complete the existing build. Or, where the design is fundamentally unsuited, restart on standard functionality with a reduced first phase.
We present the options with cost and timeline against each and a clear recommendation. We do not assume that a takeover is the right answer, and we have advised clients to stay with an incumbent where the underlying work was sound and the problem was governance.
Taking over delivery
Where we do take over, the first phase is stabilisation: establish what works, close the open defect backlog, fix the delivery cadence, and get a credible plan agreed with the sponsor. Only then do we resume feature delivery. Resuming build on an unstable base is how these projects fail a second time.
Why Dynamics Center
